INTERDISCIPLINARY SCHOLAR, CREATOR, PERFORMER, TEACHING ARTIST
For the past five years I have developed “Grotte” with my friend and co-creator, Eva Marlin. “Grotte” is an international and interdisciplinary group of artists that come together to solve problems. We are artists from Armenia, Brazil, Switzerland, Tanzania and the United States whose work engages in a hybridity of methodologies between sound, movement, and poetry, integrating various technologies of performance construction to explore how humanity survives in an artful, dignified way. “Grotte” creates performances that integrate music, theater, scenography and dialogue. Our research processes often begin with questions of ethnographic, participatory, and action-oriented nature. Our audiences are invited into a space of observation and participation. We call these experiences scenic compositions. So far, our collaborations have been characterized by poetic and political imagery, touching on the cross-cultural interpretation of symbols, and portraying female perspectives on life.
