INTERDISCIPLINARY SCHOLAR, CREATOR, PERFORMER, TEACHING ARTIST
I observe and document the presence and workings of coloniality: how it intervenes, amplifies, suppresses, and complicates the elements of material history in the visual and performing arts. I have explored coloniality within Musicology, Cross-Cultural Studies, and Theatre History-Theory-Criticism.
In the broader sense of my pursuit, I studying forms of language that rely on the process of mythologizing. My research is interested in uncovering relationships between mythologizing and human behavior.
My research bridges the gaps between arts practice-based disciplines, history, semiotics, and social sciences. I have been able to develop over the past five years a body of theoretical work through publications, presentations, community interventions, and devised theatre.
As interdisciplinary scholar, creator, and teaching artist, my aim is to engage in mentorship with students to expand their skills of observing, learning, synthesizing, and organizing meaning. These skills orbit around the multivalent and social process of meaning creation.
